We Will Miss You Candy

It is with a great deal of sadness that we must let you know of the passing of Candy Shook, CEO Loren Shook’s dearly loved companion and Silverado’s Chief Pet Officer.  Many people were lucky enough to have visited with Candy over the years either at Silverado’s home office or as she traveled with to all of the southern California communities, offices and numerous company functions. Candy, a rescue dog, was an adopted at the age of two. She was a part of Loren’s family and the Silverado family for 13 years. Candy lived about 15 years and in her lifetime bringing joy and pleasure to many people.

As Chief Pet Officer, Candy was truly a member of the Silverado team with duties including helping families and their loved ones, attending Silverado Administrator’s Retreats, Board of Director meetings, checking on pets of all kinds at the Southern California communities from dogs and cats to miniature horses and even a visiting Kangaroo.

Silverado believes very strongly in the incorporation of pets into our communities as well as hospice and home care.  Silverado pets serve their human friends providing comfort, companionship, and help to re-engage those we serve in life. They give and receive love without condition bringing joy to our life in many ways. From the beginning of Silverado, Candy was a big part of this philosophy.

We know that Candy’s spirit will continue to live on at Silverado. Thank you to all our pets who bring love into the lives of those we serve.
