Silverado’s Senior Director of Marketing Communications reminds baby boomers to stay positive and present in this hilarious song!
The grand finale for the recent WomanSage Conference featured the comical frustrations of an entire generation of boomers to the tune of up-beat can can music. Silverado Senior Living’s Senior Director of Marketing Communications and WomenSage president, sang ‘The Boomer Can Can” to a cheering crowd of mostly women.
WomenSage is an organization dedicated to helping women at midlife through educational programs and social philanthropy. Their organization is a member-driven community of women 45 years and older, united to promote women in the second half of their lives.
So what inspired this song? Shannon says on her blog, “Sometimes when you’re feeling down, the best thing you can do is just put on a show, as Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney did during the Great Depression. That’s what caused me to sit down and write the lyrics to this version of the Can Can. I needed a break from all the bad news that’s still happening a couple of years into the Great Recession.”
