Silverado Barking Club Brings Philosophy of L.I.F.E. Full Circle

At Silverado Senior Living, caring for our pet companions is a community effort. Our residents love to showcase their animals and include them in many aspects of their daily activities. In return for their loyal companionship, our residents love to spoil their mascots with endless treats.

Residents of our Silverado community in The Woodlands, Texas are especially fond of their canine companions, but often times there are just not enough treats to go around. This has inspired the community to create a program that has been affectingly dubbed “The Barking Club.”

“The original intent of the program was to give our residents the ability to do something special for their trusty sidekicks, but the program’s popularity has also extended into the neighboring community,” explains David DeLaSalle, Director of Resident Engagement at Silverado – The Woodlands.

Last holiday season David decided to expand the program and share the home-made dog biscuits with the animal shelters and hospitals of the neighboring community. The residents have also started taking treats with them on their weekly trips to Bear Branch Park, where they enjoy meeting dog walkers and spreading their love to other dogs in the neighborhood.

“The success of the Barking Club has given our community residents a sense of purpose and pride,” continued David. “Our hope is to build on the momentum of this program and incorporate more community outreach initiatives into the lives of our residents.”

Silverado’s Barking Club has allowed our philosophy of giving LIFE (Love, Innovation, Family, and Engagement) to come full circle. These fundamentals have been the basis of our approach to memory-care and we couldn’t be more delighted to see our residents extend that philosophy to their own four-legged companions.
