Love Prospers at Silverado Senior Living

To commemorate this year’s National Wedding Vows Renewal Month, residents of Silverado Senior Living – Kingwood reaffirmed their commitment of love in a community-wide celebration. During the vow renewal ceremony, the eight couples were asked to look into each other’s eyes and express to their partner what they loved most about them and share with them the qualities that they have grown to admire most.

Each couples’ table was adorned with various place cards that detailed how they met, where they got married, their most cherished memory as a wedded couple and their secret to maintaining a long and happy marriage.

Among their secrets to a successful marriage were:

“Overlook the flat sides of a well-rounded personality.”

“Instead of fussing with each other, go do work in the garden.”

“Don’t keep secrets.”

“Spend some time apart.”

“Have respect for one another, always.”

“Be faithful.”

“Give and take 60/40.”

“Try not to be phony, because phony wears off.”

“Don’t let the little things bother you.”

“Always spend a penny less than you earn.”

“Make sure you find the right one.”

“Never go to bed angry.”

In addition to the sentimental ambiance, there were also moments of humor. One in particular was related to a gentleman’s place card that stated, when I met my wife it was love at first sight. While her card read, he was not bad looking so I suppose it could have been love at first sight.

“It was a wonderful experience to honor each of the married couples. In total, we have 833 years of wedded bliss at our Kingwood community,” explained Kathleen Holloway, Director of Resident Engagement.
