Stephen Winner Shares Reflections on The Business of Aging

Silverado Senior Living Co-founder and Chief of Culture, Stephen Winner was recently featured as an expert guest on The Business of Aging radio program. The interview with Mr. Winner capped off the show’s inaugural season, in which host Lori Bitter explores the business implications of an aging population.

Bitter’s guests this season included Patricia Lippe Davis, VP of Marketing for AARP Media Sales; Jonathan Micocci, President of GRAND Media, LLC and Publisher of GRAND – The online magazine for GRAND-parents; and Sherri Snelling, a nationally recognized expert on America’s caregivers, founder of Caregiving Club and chairperson of the National Alliance for Caregiving.

Mr. Winner’s interview (linked to below) delves into the history of Silverado Senior Living and the company’s “completely innovative concept in residential care.” The interview also explores our “Love is greater than fear” philosophy and the implication it holds toward improving quality of care and associate satisfaction.

Then, in the second half of the interview, Mr. Winner describes how these concepts have led to a systematic reduction in resident medications as well as higher rates of ambulation and self-feeding; which we are proud to say are among the best in our industry. All of which are detailed in “The Silverado Story: A Memory-Care Culture Where Love is Greater than Fear.”

The Business of Aging radio program returns in September, with host Lori Bitter who also serves as President of Continuum Crew, “an integrated communications firm focused on engaging mature consumers;” in 2010 Lori and her Continuum Crew were recognized in Entrepreneur Magazine’s 100 to Watch List.
