2010 Silverado Senior Living Photo Contest Winners

For the past two years Silverado Senior Living has held a photo contest for all 20 of our senior living communities, as well as Silverado Hospice and Silverado At-Home. The photos are categorized and winners are chosen based on their representation of LOVE, LIFE, and JOY at Silverado. This year our Home Office received over 600 photo submissions and after, what seemed like months of deliberation the submissions were narrowed down to one winner, and 13 “honorable mentions.”

This year’s winner comes from Silverado Senior Living – Encinitas. Here is the photo description from Janelle Johnson, the community’s Director of Resident Engagement:

“The resident in the photo is Stuart Thompson, his faithful dog Roscoe, and Resident Engagement Associate Brent Honeycutt. The occasion was an outdoor birthday celebration for our mini horse, Little Rascal, as part of our Western theme day. Stuart, who has difficulty walking due to Huntington’s, was enjoying sitting on the grass under a shade tree with Roscoe. Stuart’s been part of our Encinitas community for 2 ½ years; he loves the horses and being outside whenever possible.”

Stuart Thompson describes this day as “Mar-ve-lous!”

We hope these photos inspire the same feelings of warmth and compassion in you as they have for our associates. We look forward to seeing what great photos there will be in 2011, as our residents and staff continue to engage in ways that truly embody the spirit of LIFE at Silverado.
